Highly Trained Orthodontists

Sun's orthodontists are the foundation of our practices, ensuring that each case has the best possible outcome. Our orthodontists are dedicated and highly trained specialists and your assurance of receiving the highest quality care. The title of orthodontist is reserved for only those dentists who are specialists in the use of braces and other dental prosthetics and have undergone two or more years of additional post-doctoral education from an accredited university. Only 6% of all general dentists pursue the rigorous additional training required to become an orthodontist.

All Sun orthodontists are proud members of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). Since membership in the AAO requires a degree from an accredited orthodontic program, it's an easy way to distinguish between general dentists providing orthodontic treatment and those formally trained as orthodontists.

Sun's practices are structured so that our orthodontists are freed from performing many of the non-treatment tasks that are required of orthodontists in other practices. Instead, they focus exclusively on patient care. For many orthodontists, this is an attractive alternative to the orthodontist-as-small-business-owner model that is prevalent in the industry, allowing us to recruit and retain top orthodontists. In fact, many of our doctors are ABO board-certified, the field's highest certification and your assurance of receiving the highest quality treatment.

In addition to recruiting the best, our orthodontists receive further training under a senior Sun orthodontist to ensure that all of our doctors follow certain best-practices standards that have evolved during our more than 30 years of service. We also encourage a professional culture in which doctors can confer and review treatment options together. This is especially helpful when treating more challenging or unusual cases. This pooling of expertise is yet another reason you can expect us to provide you with the finest care at an affordable price.
